NBC Sports announces new lead golf analyst: Get the latest updates and tour information

According to reports from the Associated Press and Golf Digest, Paul Azinger has been replaced as NBC Sports’ lead golf analyst. The news came as a surprise to Azinger, 63, who was not informed about the decision until after his last event, the Ryder Cup in September.

NBC Sports issued a statement expressing their appreciation for Azinger’s work over the past five years. They thanked him for his insights, work ethic, and industry relationships. However, it is unclear if NBC Sports’ decision to part ways with Azinger is part of a larger overhaul of its golf coverage or if more changes are coming to the Golf Channel brand.

Azinger became NBC Sports’ lead analyst in 2019 following Johnny Miller’s retirement. Before that, he worked as the lead golf analyst for ABC and ESPN from 2006 to 2015 and joined Fox Sports in 2016 for its USGA championships. In a statement released on Sunday, Azinger expressed his gratitude for the NBC team and acknowledged their talent and support.

As a player and broadcaster, Azinger has been involved in more than 100 major championships and international team events over the past 40 years. NBC has not announced who will replace Azinger in the booth.
