Metso Supplies Innovative Technology for Copper Electrorefinery in the United States

On Monday, November 20, Jane Bentham of the Global Mining Review published an article about Freeport-McMoRan awarding Metso an order for a tankhouse material handling solution to their El Paso electrorefinery in Texas, US. The order is valued at over €10 million and has been booked in Metso’s Minerals segment’s 4Q23 orders received.

Metso’s scope of delivery includes Outotec Anode Preparation and Cathode Stripping Machines, both based on proven design ensuring high safety and long-term reliability. These machines will utilize modern robotic electrode handling to optimize layout and material handling efficiency in the existing refinery.

Mikko Rantaharju, Vice President of Hydrometallurgy business line at Metso, stated, “We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with Freeport-McMoRan on this important project.
