Mental Health Support to be Provided at Vigil for Hospital Security Officer Killed in Duty

A candlelight vigil will be held on Monday, at 4:30 p.m. near the state hospital in Concord to remember the security guard who was killed in the hospital’s lobby on Friday. Mental health support for attendees will be available on-site, provided by NAMI NH and anyone who cannot attend but would like mental health support is encouraged to call 988, the state’s Suicide Prevention and Crisis Lifeline. Help is also available by texting 833-710-6477 and visiting nh988.com.

Haas had been with the hospital since 2019 and was formerly Franklin’s police chief. The state police have not said what brought Madore to the hospital or whether he was connected to a U-Haul they found running in the parking lot with an AR-style rifle, tactical vest, and several magazines of ammunition inside. Bradley Haas, 63 of Franklin, was killed as he began his shift at the hospital Friday afternoon by 33-year-old John Madore, whom the police described as a transient. The vigil will be held on the soccer fields near the hospital, at the corner of South Fruit and Clinton streets in Concord.
