Many company thefts in Chinatown prompt warning from CPD

Chicago police are warning firms in Chinatown about a series of thefts. 4 thefts have been reported amongst August 13th and September 15th, all occurring in the evening hours. In every case, the suspects brought an item to the counter, distracting the cashier. They then took benefit of the distraction to jump more than the counter and steal income from the register.

The incidents occurred at the following occasions and areas:
– August 13th at 9:ten p.m. in the 2200 block of South Wentworth Avenue
– August 18th at 7:45 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Wentworth Avenue
– September 7th at eight:35 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Wentworth Avenue
– September 15th at 9:35 p.m. in the 2116 block of South Archer Avenue

The suspects are described as two to 5 African American males, aged amongst 15 and 20 years old.
