Robert Gasser, a left-handed pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers, is set to make his MLB debut on Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Gasser, who will turn 25 on May 31, was acquired by the Brewers in a trade that sent Josh Hader to San Diego in 2022. Despite not yet being officially added to the roster, Gasser was with the team as they began their series against the Cardinals.
Gasser expressed his excitement about his upcoming debut before the game on Thursday, mentioning that he will have friends and family in attendance to watch the milestone. He described it as a dream come true and was looking forward to the opportunity. Gasser is the sole player from the Hader trade who remains with the Brewers, as the other players involved were either designated for assignment or traded to other teams.
Gasser faced an initial setback at the start of the season when he was diagnosed with bone chips in his elbow, causing him to miss out on opening the season with the major league roster. However, he has since recovered and mentioned that he feels great after working his way back. After showing promise with Triple-A Nashville earlier this season, Gasser is ready for his debut in MLB play.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy praised Gasser’s pitching abilities and expressed confidence in his readiness for his upcoming debut. With a strong track record in the minor leagues and good repertoire and poise that make him a formidable pitcher for both right-handed and left-handed batters, Gasser is expected to be a valuable addition to Milwaukee’s pitching rotation
