Kansas Tops Men’s College Basketball Poll with Gonzaga Moving Up to Top 10
Top players to watch in men’s college basketball this season have been identified by Bryan Kalbrosky of For the Win. With minimal shakeup at the top of the USA TODAY Sports men’s basketball coaches poll, it is likely that things will change in the next poll due to upcoming holiday tournaments, including a particularly star-studded tournament in Hawaii.
Kansas remains No. 1 in the rankings and picked up 25 of 32 first-place votes this week. Purdue is also included in the top five and received five first-place votes. No. 3 Arizona and No. 4 Connecticut are also featured in the top five, while Marquette sits at No. 5.
The loaded field in the Maui Invitational, which includes half of the top 10 teams such as Kansas, Purdue, Marquette, Gonzaga and UCLA, is expected to reshuffle things when it takes place later this season. Florida Atlantic fell out of the top ten after a loss to Bryant but stays in the rankings at number 20. Colorado has also joined the rankings along with Memphis and Mississippi State, while Virginia falls out due to a tie for 25th with UCLA last week.
