Istanbul Consumer Arbitration Committees Resolve 816.7 Million Lira Dispute in Record Time

During the January-October period, 37 consumer arbitration committees in Istanbul received a total of 159,323 applications, resulting in a processed file value of 816,706,581 liras. Of these applications, 65,565 were decided in favor of the consumer. The retail sector accounted for the highest percentage of applications with 53.72 percent. The Istanbul Provincial Consumer Arbitration Committee was responsible for receiving the highest number of applications throughout Turkey during this period.

In addition to their activities, the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Commerce conducted inspections in various businesses from October 14 to November 13. They examined a total of 17,875 products and services and found that 2,018 were against the law. As a result, an administrative fine of 5,414,988 liras was imposed.
