Top performers from Memphis area high school spring sports in Week 4

Hometown High School Sports Stars Shine in Week 4 of the 2024 Season

The Memphis high school sports scene was buzzing with excitement in Week 4 of the 2024 season. In baseball, CBHS put on an impressive performance by defeating Houston 11-1. Riley Goodman was the standout player of the game, with eight strikeouts in just three innings pitched. Hank Stalnaker had a remarkable game, hitting two home runs and stealing two bases. Holden Robinson and Will Brick also contributed to the win with two RBIs each.

Meanwhile, FACS emerged victorious over Lausanne with a score of 12-6. Kayden Hartunian was the winning pitcher for FACS, striking out four batters in five innings pitched. In softball, Brighton continued their winning streak by beating Collierville 12-0. Aliya Garcia played a pivotal role in this victory, going 3-for-3 at bat and scoring two runs. Maddie McClure also had an outstanding game, hitting three home runs and scoring two runs. Maci Frederick hit two home runs and scored three runs, while Ella McKnight had two hits and scored twice as well. St. Benedict defeated Munford 2-0 in another exciting matchup, with Jorja Wheeler pitching a complete game and striking out seven batters. Izzy Henderson and Charlee Smith each had two hits for St. Benedict.

On Monday, Briarcrest made quick work of Munford in boys soccer, winning 6-0 with goals from Chandler Cross and Coleman Loving each contributing to the win along with Andrew Painter’s assist. Sports fans are encouraged to submit any box scores or statistics they may have to sports@commercialappeal
