Harry Krueger Leaves Housemarque After 14 Years: What’s Next for Sony Studio?

After a successful 14-year stint at Housemarque, Harry Krueger has announced his departure from the studio. Krueger expressed his appreciation for his time at Housemarque and noted that each project he worked on was a dream come true. His contributions greatly contributed to the growth of the studio, moving from arcade games to ambitious projects like Returnal, which marked a turning point for Housemarque.

Krueger described his departure as a difficult decision but said he was excited about the future of both the new projects and the strong team remaining at Housemarque. He expressed confidence in the bright future of the Finnish studio, supported by Sony’s continued support as an internal team in 2021.

Ilari Kuittinen, co-founder and CEO of Housemarque, highlighted Krueger’s important impact on the development of the studio. Under Krueger’s leadership, Housemarque surpassed several milestones, including the rebirth of the arcade genre with Returnal. Kuittinen sees this moment as an ideal opportunity for new leadership to take over and continue to build on the foundation created by Krueger.

Housemarque is now preparing for its next major project: Kuittinnen stated that they are gearing up to create “the next big hit” from Finland, carrying on the legacy and innovations introduced during Krueger’s era at Housemarque.
