Israeli Army confirms death of Hamas’ 3rd-in-command in recent Gaza attack

Hamas Leader Marwan Issa Killed in Israeli Airstrike as Gaza Tensions Rise

The Israeli Army has announced the death of Marwan Issa, a senior member of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) during an airstrike carried out at the beginning of March in the Nuseirat refugee camp, in the center of the Strip from Gaza. Issa was considered the ‘number three’ of Hamas and helped organize attacks on October 7 that left around 1,200 dead and 240 hostages. His death was already announced last week by White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

Army spokesman Daniel Hagari also confirmed that another senior Hamas member, Commander Ghazi Abu Tamaa, head of the combat and administrative assistance staff, was killed in the same attack. Israel launched its offensive against Gaza in response to the October 7 attacks. Since then, more than 32,300 Palestinians have been reported dead by Palestinian Ministry of Health in enclave plus more than 420 due to actions of security forces and Israeli settlers in West Bank and East Jerusalem.
