The City of Ann Arbor and Ann Arbor SPARK have teamed up to launch the Ann Arbor Green Business Challenge (A2 GBC), an initiative aimed at transforming sustainability efforts within the local business community. The A2 GBC is more than just a certification program; it is a movement to drive a greener and more sustainable future for businesses in the area.
By participating in the challenge, businesses can showcase their commitment to eco-friendly practices and earn recognition and cash rewards for their efforts. The launch event for the program was held on Tuesday, where speakers including Rodger Bowser from Zingerman’s Delicatessen, Yahang Zhang from RRS, and Heidi Poscher from 4th Purpose Energy shared information with interested businesses.
The A2 GBC focuses on seven key categories to promote sustainability: Energy, Circular Economy, Water, Resilience, Supply Chain, Education, and Mobility. Participants earn points towards different certification levels including bronze, silver, gold, and platinum by implementing sustainable practices across these categories. From reducing energy consumption to supporting upcycling, every effort towards sustainability is recognized.
Businesses that excel in the A2 GBC will be recognized at the end of the 4 1/2-month challenge period. Top performers will receive cash rewards for their exceptional achievements and innovative sustainability initiatives. The program is a collaboration between Ann Arbor SPARK and Ann Arbor’s Office of Sustainability and Innovations.
Interested businesses can sign up for the Ann Arbor Green Business Challenge by filling out a form and finding more information about the program’s details on its website.
