Governor Gordon: Wyoming’s Strong Economy, Property Tax Relief Top Priorities in 2024 Budget Session

The 67th Wyoming Legislature kicked off its first day of the 2024 Budget Session with a joint session on Monday. Miss Wyoming USA Beck Bridger from Sheridan sang the National Anthem to open the proceedings. In his State of the State Address, Governor Mark Gordon highlighted Wyoming’s strong economy, with the state’s gross domestic product being the highest in history and unemployment as low as it has been since 2008.

Gordon addressed the impact of Biden Administration’s energy policies on the energy industry and emphasized on property tax relief in his proposed budget for the legislative session. He urged legislators to focus on passing a conservative budget that keeps general fund spending flat when compared to 2021, while taking into consideration potential impacts to county resources, roads, and schools when addressing high property taxes. The governor also discussed education, mental health, and border security in his address. We will have more from Gordon’s State of the State in future stories.
