Darren Waller’s decision to play still uncertain, says Joe Schoen

Giants Uncertain About Darren Waller’s Return for 2024 Season

Darren Waller’s future with the New York Giants in the 2024 season is uncertain, according to Giants General Manager Joe Schoen. Schoen stated at the league meetings that Waller has not yet decided whether he will retire or continue playing.

Waller was acquired by the Giants in a trade with the Raiders last year. During the previous season, he made 52 catches for 552 yards and scored one touchdown. However, he missed five games due to a hamstring injury. Hamstring issues have been a recurring problem for Waller in recent years, which may influence his decision regarding his future on the field.

The Giants are giving Waller the necessary time to make up his mind about his future with the team. Currently under contract with the Giants through 2026, Waller is set to earn a non-guaranteed salary of $10.525 million for the upcoming 2024 season. With Waller’s uncertain status, the Giants are preparing for various scenarios and will respect his decision, whether it involves retirement or continuing to play in the NFL.
