G. Dep struggles to adapt to life after prison due to advancing technology

Former Bad Boy artist G. Dep spent over 13 years in prison for murder, and now that he has been released, he is experiencing a culture shock as he tries to readjust to society. Paying for items with his phone and seeing pay-to-ride mopeds all over the city are new and unfamiliar experiences for the 49-year-old.

In his first interview since his release, Dep revealed that the biggest challenge he has faced is getting used to the digital age and the impact of social media on society. The world has changed a lot during his time behind bars, and it is taking some time for him to adapt to these changes.

In 2010, Dep, whose real name is Travell Coleman, confessed to a cold case homicide from 1993 after walking into an NYPD Precinct and providing details of the murder. He was charged with second-degree murder and sentenced to prison as a result of his confession. Coleman was released on April 4, granted a 6-month early release, but he does not regret his choice to turn himself in and take responsibility for his actions.
