Raúl González was born in Guardo (Palencia) in 1961, a place he describes as rather strange. Growing up, studying, and living in Bilbao until 23 years ago when his job at the hotel company led him to relocate to Palma de Mallorca. González believes in taking risks and emphasizes the importance of fearlessness and a touch of madness in decision-making to stay competitive in the market.

González takes approximately 200 flights per year, almost traveling every workday. He imposes most of these trips on himself to ensure he stays informed about hotel operations and to maintain relationships with the team and partners. Despite extensive travel being exhausting, he finds motivation in the opportunity to learn new things.

As his responsibilities have increased, González has shifted away from being a pure economist and more towards being a psychologist. He values personal relationships and the growth of his team, even if it means he may not be the most technically proficient. González believes having a touch of naivety is healthy in navigating the complexities of the business world.

In addition to his professional life, González engages in sports like paddle tennis and tennis, often scheduling games two to three times a week. He enjoys reading, with his recent reads including “Damn Rome” by Santiago Posteguillo. He typically works long hours but prioritizes spending quality time with his family and emphasizes maintaining a balance between work and personal life.

Managing stress effectively is crucial for González as he navigates the demands of his non-conformist family business. He believes in maintaining a friendly demeanor even when faced with challenging situations and emphasizes the importance of humility and listening in leadership. Reflecting on past decisions and constantly seeking ways to improve are key aspects of González’s approach to leadership.
