Exploring the Power of Photons: Dr. Krishna Rupavatharam to Discuss Applications in Science and Innovation

The Science Inquiry Series will be hosting a talk by Dr. Krishna Rupavatharam, director of Montana State University’s Spectrum Lab, on April 24 at 6 p.m. at the Museum of the Rockies. This event is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by Gallatin Valley Friends of the Sciences and Hopa Mountain. During his presentation, Dr. Rupavatharam will discuss the various applications of photons in science and innovation, including remote sensing, holographic imaging, quantum teleportation, and communication.

Dr. Rupavatharam obtained his Ph.D. in optical physics from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India before working at the Lund Institute of Technology in Sweden. He is currently serving as director of MSU Spectrum Lab and also serves on the board of directors for the Montana Photonics and Quantum Alliance. His talk will provide insight into how photonics, or the science of light, can be used in a wide range of applications to advance science and innovation.

The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session to allow attendees to further their understanding on this topic.

Photons are elementary particles that have numerous applications in science and innovation across different fields such as telecommunications, medical imaging, artificial intelligence, and more. Photonics is a rapidly growing field that utilizes these particles to create new technologies that can revolutionize our world.

Dr. Rupavatharam’s expertise in this area makes him an ideal speaker for this event as he has extensive knowledge about photonics and its various applications.

Overall this event provides an excellent opportunity for members of the community to learn more about photonics and its potential impact on our lives while being surrounded by beautiful scenery provided by museums like Museum Of The Rockies.
