Exploring the Intersection of Art and Science: El Aleph Festival Returns with a Focus on AI Challenges

The eighth edition of El Aleph: Festival of Art and Science is set to take place from May 8 to 19, with the theme Challenges of artificial intelligence and other intelligences. Juan Ayala, the technical secretary of Planning and Programming of UNAM Culture, stated that this event will provide a space for dialogue, listening, and reflection on the impact of artificial intelligence tools across various disciplines of human knowledge.

The festival will feature over 255 participants in more than 72 activities and 90 functions, including talks, workshops, plays, music, dance, and cinema. The collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Mexico City and the Colegio de San Ildefonso has allowed for the creation of a diverse and captivating program.

Visual conceptual art will be showcased in several venues during the festival. The major exhibition “Face to Face for Mexico” by Brian Eno will be hosted at the Colegio de San Ildefonso. Another venue, the Palace of Autonomy, will house six exhibitions utilizing artificial intelligence tools.

One highlight of the festival is Mozart Requiem by Gloria Contreras executed by the UNAM Choreographic Workshop, which has not been offered for many years. Additionally, a film titled “Dwellers among the waters,” powered by artificial intelligence, will question human conditions and realities through visual pieces.

Various speakers like Hannah Price and José Gordon will address how artificial intelligence technologies can be fused with storytelling expertise and discuss different perspectives on AI across various fields of reflection. This promises to be a dynamic and thought-provoking event that delves into the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence and other intelligences in today’s world.

Overall El Aleph: Festival of Art and Science offers an opportunity for attendees to explore how technology is shaping our world through art & science discussions & presentations.
