Latter & Blum, a Louisiana real estate firm, completes sale transaction

Compass Real Estate Expands its Reach with Acquisition of Latter & Blum

Compass Real Estate, the largest independent real estate brokerage in the United States, has recently acquired Louisiana-based real estate brokerage company Latter & Blum. The acquisition was confirmed by Lori McCarthy, managing broker for its Acadiana offices. Latter & Blum, headquartered in New Orleans with offices across Louisiana, was the top company in the Gulf Coast region last year, generating $3.6 billion in sales.

As part of the deal, the two companies are planning to operate as a co-brand initially before transitioning to the Compass name. Established in 1916, Latter & Blum boasts 3,100 agents working in 32 offices across four states. This acquisition would significantly increase Compass’ agent count, which stood at nearly 15,000 late last year and is expected to grow by 21% if all agents from Latter & Blum remain with the company.

McCarthy expressed her enthusiasm about the partnership and stated that she is excited to join a company known for its excellence and shares Latter & Blum’s core values of community, culture, and professionalism. This acquisition signifies a significant move for both companies in the real estate market and positions Compass as a dominant player with a strong presence along the Gulf Coast region.
