Caitlin Clark, the NCAA’s all-time Division I scoring leader, has received an invitation to participate in the U.S.A. Basketball national team training camp during the Final Four in Cleveland. This comes with the condition that Iowa’s season is over. Clark has already achieved three gold medals with U.S.A. Basketball junior teams, most recently being part of the 2021 under-19 squad.
The U.S. team is anticipated to announce its roster later this spring, and Clark is predicted to be the top pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever on April 15. She has been a significant draw for college basketball, with almost 5 million viewers tuning in to watch the Hawkeyes in their second-round match against West Virginia. The training camp will feature nine former Olympians like Diana Taurasi, Ariel Atkins, Chelsea Gray, Brittney Griner, Jewell Loyd, Kelsey Plum, Breanna Stewart, A’ja Wilson, and Jackie Young.
Notable players such as former WNBA Rookie of the Year recipients Aliyah Boston and Rhyne Howard, along with Sabrina Ionescu and Shakira Austin, will also be participating in the camp. The U.S. team recently triumphed in a FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgium, securing victories over the host nation, Nigeria, and Senegal.
