CAA Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards Announced for November 20th

In the second week of the 2023-24 season, the CAA has announced its weekly women’s basketball awards. The Player of the Week is Chaniya Clark from North Carolina A&T, while the Rookie of the Week is Laine McGurk from Drexel.

Chaniya Clark, a redshirt sophomore at North Carolina A&T, was a standout in her team’s 2-0 week, including a win over Wake Forest and another victory over Liberty. She averaged 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game and earned a double-double in the game against Liberty with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Her impressive performances have helped North Carolina A&T secure three straight wins.

On the other hand, Laine McGurk, a freshman at Drexel, also put in an excellent effort, averaging 15.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. She had double-digit points in three recent games and was instrumental in a 71-46 win over La Salle.

Last week’s Player of the Week was Khari Clark from Stony Brook, while Darrionna Howard from Delaware was named Rookie of the Week. This week’s awards to Chaniya Clark and Laine McGurk highlight the talent and depth in the CAA women’s basketball division.
