Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun to retire in 2024

Boeing Shakeup: CEO and Key Executives Resign Amid Quality Control Concerns

As Boeing continues to grapple with increased scrutiny following quality control issues, the company is facing a major shakeup. This includes the departure of three top executives, including CEO Dave Calhoun, board chair Larry Kellner, and head of commercial airplanes Stan Deal.

Calhoun is scheduled to leave at the end of 2024. He has been known for his operational skills, direct communication style, and crisis management expertise since he joined Boeing’s board of directors 10 years ago and took over as CEO in 2020. However, the incident with the Alaska Airlines plane and subsequent revelations about Boeing’s manufacturing and quality control processes have prompted the need for new leadership.

Kellner has announced that he will not seek re-election at the upcoming shareholder meeting. He has been on Boeing’s board since 1993 and served as chairman since 2018. The decision marks a significant change for the company’s leadership structure.

Deal will retire from the company effective Monday. He has been with Boeing since 2015 and currently serves as head of commercial airplanes. His departure comes after a piece of an Alaska Airlines jet fell off during a flight in January, which led to increased scrutiny into Boeing’s manufacturing and quality control processes.

The situation is still unfolding, but updates will be provided as more information becomes available. It remains to be seen how these changes will affect Boeing’s future direction and ability to overcome its ongoing challenges related to quality control and safety concerns on its aircraft production lines.
