Jeff Bezos closes in on Elon Musk as the world’s richest person after selling Amazon stock

Bezos Sells Stocks and Takes Back Claim as World’s Wealthiest Person, But Musk May Have Final Say

Jeff Bezos, the executive chairman of Amazon, is currently the world’s second richest man. According to Bloomberg, his estimated net worth is $200 billion. However, Musk’s net worth, which is tied to Tesla’s stock, has declined in recent weeks, with the company’s stock dropping 24% in the first two months of the year. This has impacted Musk’s claim as the world’s wealthiest person.

In an effort to reclaim his title as the world’s wealthiest person, Bezos recently sold more than $2 billion worth of Amazon stock and proposed selling an additional 50 million shares around February 7th, worth an estimated $8.4 billion. These stock sales could potentially propel Bezos’ net worth and allow him to surpass Musk on Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index.

As of now, Bezos sits at No. 2 on Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index with an estimated net worth of $200 billion and Musk holds No. 1 with $209 billion. However, Forbes calculates net worth differently than Bloomberg and currently has Arnault and family at No.1 with a net worth of $220 billion while Musk is No. 2 on the Forbes list with an estimated net worth of $201.6 billion and Bezos is No.3 at $195.9 billion . It is likely that these developments will continue to impact both men’s rankings in the coming weeks and months.
