Hatton and Smith selected for College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-District Team

Bellarmine University Students Shine on the Court and in the Classroom: Langdon Hatton and Billy Smith Earn 2023-24 College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-District Team Recognition.

Two Bellarmine University student-athletes, Langdon Hatton and Billy Smith, have been named to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators’ Academic All-District Team. This recognition is given to the top student-athletes in the nation for their outstanding performances on the court and in the classroom.

Billy Smith, a sophomore psychology major, had an impressive season with averages of 5.8 points and a 34.6 percent shooting percentage from three-point range. In his first season since transferring from Miami (OH), he scored a season-high 17 points in a game against Berea. Despite being new to the team, Smith quickly became an integral part of their success.

Langdon Hatton, a junior data science major, also had an outstanding season with averages of 10.5 points and 7.1 rebounds. He had five double-doubles during the season, including a standout performance with 27 points and 12 rebounds in a game against Kennesaw State. This is Langdon’s second postseason academic honor, as he was previously named to the 2024 Academic All-ASUN Team. His dedication to both sports and academics has paid off handsomely as he continues to excel both on and off the court.

To be eligible for the CSC Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and either appear in at least 90 percent of their team’s games or start in at least 66 percent of their games. The recognition of Hatton and Smith reflects their commitment to excellence both on and off the court.
